At the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly 42nd Session on 30 October, Nneka Henry, Head of UNRSF, called on ACP and EU parliamentarians to advocate for road safety as international development assistance priority that bolsters climate action, quality education, better business, health wellbeing, gender equality, and sustainable cities.
- On 27 October 2022, UNRSF Secretariat held an online information session, convening stakeholders and implementing partners from WHO, UN Police, GRSP, and IACP to discuss the potential benefits the proposed model would bring to low- and middle-income countries.
- During the UNRSF information session, stakeholders from PAHO, UNICEF, UNRSF, and implementing government agencies discussed how to promote more responsible use of roadways, improve access to post-crash care and reduce road crashes in Jamaica.
- During the UNRSF information session, stakeholders from UNHABITAT, UNESCWA, UNEP, UNECA, UNRSF, ITDP and local NGOs, and government agencies participated in the UNRSF information session discussing how to build the capacity of cities to improve road safety management in Africa and Eastern Mediterranean Region.
- Today, Nneka Henry, Head of UNRSF, presented at the 2022 NETS Annual Strength IN Numbers Fleet Safety Benchmark Conference on “the biggest opportunity to halve road deaths and injuries by 2030”.
- Over 28 stakeholders from UNHABITAT, WHO, UNESCAP, UNRSF and local government departments and institutions participated in the UNRSF information session on reducing motorized two-wheeler crashes, injuries and fatalities in Thailand through a motorized two-wheeler safety master plan.
- At the UNRSF information session, experts and representatives from ESCWA, ECA, UNRSF, iRAP, EIB, IRF and relevant government agencies focused on how the new UNRSF project will benefit Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal by upgrading the quality of roads.
- At the UNRSF information session, stakeholders from UNDP, ESCAP, UNRSF and relevant government agencies, as well as institutions, shared ideas to strengthen national capacities in road safety management to reduce the number of fatalities from road crashes in Nepal.
- Project managers and experts from UNDP, WHO, and UNECE discussed ways to enhance the post-pandemic road safety system in the Republic of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
