Engagement Plan 2024
Save the date for the major UNRSF events in 2024.

This Engagement Plan highlights opportunities for potential funders to engage with and learn more about the UN Road Safety Fund in the lead up to the UNRSF Pledging Forum taking place at the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety on 18 - 19 February 2025. Funders are invited to announce their road safety commitments and financial contributions at any of these opportunities.

Dialogue for the adoption and implementation of laws and policies

The UNRSF will host three dialogues during 2024 for member states and private sector partners to discuss the implementation of the Global Framework Plan of Action for Road Safety and the funding required to move forward. The dialogues will take place at:

  • 20 February @1 pm CET: Road Safety High-Level Forum at the 86th Session of the UNECE Inland Transport Committee (Geneva)
  • 29 February @10am - 5 pm CET: UNRSF Open Day Online for presentations and discussions on UNRSF programmes.
  • 22 – 24 May: UNRSF Impact Report Launch Event at the International Transport Forum (Leipzig)
  • 1 September: 6th UNRSF Call for Proposals whereby partners can explore future programming activities with the UNRSF pool of implementing partners.
  • 15 – 18 October: UNRSF Public-Private Sector Event at the International Road Federation World Congress (Istanbul)

Dialogue on sustainable domestic financing for road safety

The UNRSF will host a plenary roundtable discussion during the 8th UNECE International PPPs Forum on 9 May at 9:00 am TRT in Ankara. The session, entitled "Charting New Routes: PPPs for Road Safety" will explore the transformative potential of PPPs to drive and help finance road safety interventions in low- and middle-income countries.

Additionally, the UNRSF Open Day Online event is also an opportunity to discuss models for domestic road safety financing.

Regional dialogue: Africa

Africa is reported as the region with the highest fatality rate per population at 19 per 100,000. Together with the Africa Road Maintenance Funds Association and other regional partners, the UNRSF will lead a dialogue on road safety in Africa on 13 May in Abidjan.

Regional dialogue: South-East Asia

South-East Asia is reported as the region with the highest number of deaths. Together with the Malaysian Road Safety Institute and other regional partners, the UNRSF will lead a dialogue on road safety in South-East Asia in September.
