The UN Road Safety Fund joins UN-Habitat and partners in Istanbul, Turkey, to celebrate World Cities Day under the theme of Financing Sustainable Urban Future for All.
Road traffic crashes are a growing concern in urban areas, including due to the rapid pace of motorization in cities in low- and middle-income countries around the world.
The Mayors’ Forum convened global city leaders – including at a Road Safety Roundtable on 30 October – to share insights and explore strategies to improve road safety within urban settings.
Nneka Henry, Head of the UNRSF, joined the Roundtable to showcase how the Fund uses a safe system approach to unlock transformative investment in road safety and sustainable urban planning.
The Roundtable was hosted by the Government of Turkey and organised in collaboration with UN-Habitat under the UNRSF-funded project Global Alliance of Cities for Road Safety.
