Africa is the region hardest hit by road traffic fatalities, and there is an urgent need for targeted interventions focused on road safety and urban planning in African cities to disrupt this stark reality. Especially for those who walk and cycle.
For the the 9th edition of Africities Summit, UN road safety Fund together with UN-Habitat organised an event providing a unique opportunity to mobilize African leaders and communities to achieve safe and green mobility. The event built on recent UN Road Safety Fund sessions on investing in a better future for Africa through safe and sustainable transport solutions, looking at the recent project on reclaiming the streets for African pedestrians and cyclists in Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Mozambique and Rwanda.
